1. What We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service:

• Account Information: Your name, email address, and profile picture provided during sign-up (e.g., via Google).
• User-Generated Content: All classroom layouts, class names, student rosters (names only), and seating assignments you create are stored in our secure database.

We do not collect sensitive student PII, grades, or medical/diagnostic information. The optional emoji feature is for visual aid only and must not be used to store sensitive data.

2. How Data is Used

• Your data is used solely to provide and improve the SeatPlan service, such as saving your layouts and rosters for future access.
• We do not sell, rent, or share any personal data or user-generated content with third parties for marketing purposes.
• Data may be used in an aggregated and anonymized form for analytical purposes to improve our service.

3. How Data is Stored

• All user data, including classroom layouts and rosters, is stored securely in Google Cloud Firestore, a database protected by industry-standard security measures.
• Access to your data is protected by your user authentication credentials.

4. Your Data Rights

• You may access, modify, or delete your classroom data at any time directly within the application.
• You have the right to permanently delete your entire account and all associated data. This can be done from your account settings page and is irreversible.

1. Eligibility

SeatPlan is intended for use by K–12 educators. By using the service, you confirm you are at least 18 years old and authorized to use student names under your district’s policies.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

• Only input student first and last names.
• Not enter any sensitive personally identifiable information (PII), including but not limited to grades, medical/diagnostic data, or behavioral notes into any field.
• Use the emoji feature for general visual categorization only. Do not use emojis to represent sensitive information (e.g., accommodations, allergies, or race).
• Not attempt to access, reverse engineer, or interfere with other users’ data.

3. FERPA & Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of the content you create, including student names and classroom layouts. By using SeatPlan, you grant us a limited license to store and display this data on your behalf as part of the service.

As the educator, you are responsible for ensuring your use of SeatPlan aligns with your district’s policies and applicable laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

4. Limitation of Liability

SeatPlan is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the service and are not responsible for any loss of data, service interruptions, or system failures.

While we use industry-standard security measures, we cannot guarantee absolute security and accept no liability for any damages resulting from data loss or unauthorized access.

5. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to SeatPlan at our sole discretion, for any reason, including but not limited to a violation of these terms. You may terminate your account at any time by using the account deletion feature. We also reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the SeatPlan service as a whole at any time, with or without notice.
